How did I make it to Atlanta Greek Picnic (AGP) you ask. Funny story, I was planning this trip since January. Everything was going good and then, bam I got hit with a some major set backs. Had to get some new tires and have them installed and some other problems that took most of the cash I had saved for the trip. I thought I would miss it this year. I continued to plan everything for the everyone that was still going and gave as much info as I could. Needless to say I was pretty disappointed, but my responsibilities have to come first.
More after the jump.
I wake up Thursday, and take my truck for maintenance since I already took the Thur and Fri off, I might as well use it right? While waiting for my truck its oil changed and some other things I my morning call from mom dukes (yes I call my mom, mom dukes...just not to her face). She could hear the disappointment in my voice, (just like she always can) and forced the info out of me.
Long story, short I got the money and it was ON!
We hit the road late that night and me having 30 mins of good sleep decided that I will drive first. I thought I would be able to get a good 2 hours of driving in until I hit traffic on I-95. That 2 hours of good driving turned into an hour and half of bumper to bumper traffic. After finally getting past the traffic, I tried with no luck of staying awake and was forced to pass the driving to another.
The drive down was uneventful and I got my first taste of Denny's food. The Grand Slam sandwich is the business. I am surely going to get another in the near future. Finally after 11 hours on the road, we arrive at the hotel. As is customary when I enter any hotel room, I check out the TV to figure out how I will be hooking the PS3 to it.
I try for about 30 mins unsuccessfully to get the PS3 so I did what any computer talented guy would do. I Googled it. A quick search on the net and I find my answer. Who would have thought it would be as easy as buying a universal remote. I head to the nearest Radio Shack and buy one of the cheaper ones. No sense in buying an expensive one only for it to spend the majority of its life in a suitcase. I get the remote and head back to the hotel, get the remote programmed and give it another go...no luck. now I'm getting a little frustrated but I keep at it.
I check my notes and this is all that the notes said I needed. So of course I'm stumped as to what could be the problem. To think that this LCD TV would not have the privilege of having a PS3 played on it was more than I could handle. I went back to reading and something piqued my interest and also gave me an idea. I would tell you what that idea was but I won't but needless to say that the idea worked and my PS3 was alive in 1080i. It's the little things that make me happy. After all that brain power expenditure and running off of a few hours of not so good sleep it was time for a nap.
The nap was just what I needed and I woke up just in time to head out to the Step Show. Now if you've been to one step show you've been to all so I really wasn't expecting to be wowed by anything I saw. But with my camera in hand I would at least get some decent shots. I get a good spot and hunker down to enjoy the show. You can view images of the show here. I have to say that I enjoyed myself each team brought to the show (except one) a mix of creativity and energy to give us a good performance.
Of course there could only be one winner from the fraternities and and sororities and here they are.
